My Theories of Writing class had a theme of discussing discourse communities and how they are seen in the community and in writing. For my piece on discourse communities, I chose to write about online discourse communities and how they can be harmful. This piece is very important to me, and I feel that it is important for others to read, as the internet continues to evolve and the way that information is exchanged continues to change. While this does reflect on my own writing, showing how I can deliver information in a research paper, I believe this is important to include in my portfolio, because my portfolio could be considered an online discourse community in itself.
